Brigitte Kingsley

Brigitte Kingsley began her film career as an actor in high school with television commercials for brands such as Oxy, Foot Locker, McDonalds, Head & Shoulders and Radio Shack.  She became the “hostess with the mostess” on the television series Game Nation for four seasons as host Suki Diefenbaker, and she was also featured as the host of Much Music's "Screwed Over."

Shortly after graduating from York University with her Bachelor of Fine Arts, Brigitte Kingsley launched the production company Defiant Empire Corporation with business partner Andrew Cymek.  She went on to produce a series of short films, corporate videos and commercials before producing her first feature film in 2006.  Titled Dark Rising, the film starred wrestling superstar Jay “Christian” Reso.  The low-budget indie feature was released through Universal Vivendi in 2007, and in the following year it was nominated for six Canadian Comedy Awards.  These included Best Writing, Best Directing, Best Male Performance and Best Female Performance, the last of which Brigitte earned for her role as the lead character Summer Vale.  It was later released in the US through E1 (Koch) and subsequently expanded into a sequel and television series.

In January of 2008, Brigitte Kingsley became president of Black Walk, a production company that is best known for its clever comedic features including the 2005 Toronto International Film Festival Favourite and Independent Spirit Award Winner Phil the Alien, as well as the 2004 comedy Ham & Cheese.  Black Walk also holds the record for winning the most Much Music Video Awards to date. In 2010 Brigitte completed the feature film Medium Raw: Night of the Wolf, an action-thriller starring John Rhys Davies (Lord of the Rings), William B. Davies (X-Files), Mercedes McNab (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), and Jay Reso (WWE); the film was set for release in February 2011 through Anchor Bay.  She is currently in post-production on the expansion of her Dark Rising Brand with a television series titled The Savage Tales of Summer Vale, in addition to the Dark Rising sequel – Summer Strikes Back!
