The Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) values the input of our members and and we have established various committees and working groups so that we may take advantage of their collective knowledge and experiences to ensure that the strategic objectives of the association are achieved.

Canada Media Fund Working Group

Works with the Canada Media Fund (CMF), government and industry stakeholders to

  • Ensure ongoing public and private support for the CMF and fulfillment of its mandate
  • Improve CMF policies and programs in a manner that reflects the interests and addresses the concerns of independent producers

Copyright Committee

Promotes, advises upon, and assists with maximizing the value of the fundamental interests of members’ copyrights through domestic and international advocacy and administrative activities to ensure a strong legal, commercial and financial incentive framework for the creation and exploitation of multiplatform audiovisual content by independent producers.

Feature Film Committee

Ensures that Canada's Feature Film Policy, and more particularly the Canada Feature Film Fund (CFFF) administered by Telefilm Canada, effectively responds to the needs of the CMPA's feature film members.

Industrial Relations Committee

Determines how the CMPA may proceed on any matter related to industrial relations, including but not limited to negotiation strategy, discussion of any  legislation that may affect our sector and other matters that relate to industrial relations, including agreements we have in place with the various unions and guilds.

International Business & Production Financing Committee

Oversees the CMPA's activities related to international business and production financing. More specifically, the focus is:

  • To seek enhancements to the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit and the Canadian Production Services Tax Credit, and expand these programs to include interactive media production;
  • To undertake an in-depth assessment of a viable and effective public policy measure that would assist independent producers attract private financing;
  • To establish international funding and other initiatives that would assist producers in developing, financing, promoting and marketing their content in foreign markets.

Terms of Trade Working Group

Provides strategic oversight and direction to the CMPA Terms of Trade negotiating team in its negotiation of new Terms of Trade agreements with broadcasters and in the identification and resolution of issues under existing Terms of Trade agreements.
